Held every two years, the FTA Europe Diamond Awards represent the highest achievement in European flexographic printing, celebrating excellence, innovation and technical expertise across the industry.

The shortlisted entry was produced at Coveris Gainsborough for Asda’s Extra Special White Sourdough packaging. The design first achieved success at the FIA UK Awards 2024, where it won Gold in the Flexo Print on Film: Surface Print Medium category.

Following its Gold award win at the FIA UK Awards, the print progressed to the European stage, where it was judged against other national award-winning entries from across the continent. Securing a place on the Diamond Awards shortlist is a significant achievement and reflects the exceptional print quality, technical expertise and innovation delivered by the Gainsborough team.

Using the latest screening technology allowed us to enhance the photographic detail, delivering sharper highlights and more defined textures throughout the design. The precision of our automated mounting system ensures accurate print registration, helping us achieve consistent print quality and efficient production. Combined with our colour management processes, this enabled us to deliver an excellent match to the GMG colour target.

David Chambers, Print Technical Manager (Gainsborough), commented: “To be shortlisted for a Diamond Award is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the skill and expertise of our team in Gainsborough. The Asda Extra Special White Sourdough print demonstrates the high standards we strive for every day, and it’s rewarding to see that quality recognised at a European level. We are proud to represent Coveris on this stage and look forward to the awards ceremony in Barcelona.”

The Diamond Awards ceremony will take place in Barcelona on Thursday 29th October, where winners from across Europe will be recognised for their achievements.

Congratulations to our Gainsborough team on reaching this prestigious shortlist, and the very best of luck for the awards ceremony.
