Using Resources Responsibly

Through our award-winning No Waste vision, we have set ourselves the ambitious goal of eliminating waste in all its forms - within our own operations, by continuously developing more sustainable packaging solutions, and by tackling product waste to lead the industry towards a more sustainable future. We are committed to creating packaging that is easy to recycle, incorporates recycled materials, and is lightweight. Through strategic investments in our dedicated recycling business, ReCover, we have introduced advanced technologies and expanded our recycling capabilities to strengthen the circular economy.

By embracing sustainable practices and reducing waste in all its forms, we are not only using resources more efficiently but also supporting the long-term health of our environment. Preventing environmental pollution is a key priority, which is why we have implemented proactive measures to ensure our operations leave no lasting negative impact. Our commitment to biodiversity is reflected in our use of certified fibre-based and recycled materials across our packaging portfolio.
Aligned with global climate goals, we are currently evaluating our Scope 3 emissions and plan to submit science-based reduction targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) by 2025.

NEOEN Storbränkullen Windfarm

Having signed a 10-year purchase agreement with Neoen – one of the world’s largest producers of exclusively renewable energy – Sweden’s largest wind farm, with a production capacity equivalent to the annual consumption of 30,000 homes, will now supply Coveris with green electricity to meet the zero carbon emissions of its European plants.

Over the past few years, we’ve been gradually transitioning to green energy across our network, most recently in our sites in Austria, Hungary, and Egypt. This new agreement marks a major milestone in achieving zero Scope 2 CO₂ emissions across our operations.

Our Approach

Climate Change

As a packaging manufacturer, we recognise our responsibility to minimise both our own and our industry’s impact on the climate. As part of our No Waste vision, we have joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to support the decarbonisation of our entire value chain.

Pollution

We proactively implement measures to prevent all forms of environmental pollution. A key pillar of our No Waste vision is our commitment to achieving zero net waste across our operations.

Water and Marine Resources

Recognising the significant issue of marine debris within our value chain, we are committed to minimising the risk of plastic leakage in any form. As part of our No Waste vision, we believe that tackling waste in all its forms, including litter, is fundamental to building a more sustainable future.

Biodiversity and Ecosystems

We strive to minimise our impact on biodiversity by primarily using certified fibre-based and recycled materials in our packaging. In addition, we reduce pressure on ecosystems by designing products that can be easily recycled at the end of their useful life.

Resource Use and Circular Economy

We consider plastics and paper valuable resources that must not be wasted. By fostering a circular economy through the use of recyclable packaging materials and incorporating recyclates, we help preserve these resources. A key driver of our No Waste vision is our dedicated recycling business, ReCover, which works to keep plastics and paper in the loop while promoting resource efficiency.

Keeping Plastic Circular

As part of our commitment to becoming a carbon-neutral company and reducing all forms of waste, we founded ReCover. By continuously expanding our recycling capacities and capabilities, we aim to prevent pollution and support our customers in achieving their sustainability goals.
