Employees participated in two litter‑picking activities on Tuesday 21st and Thursday 23rd April, focussing on nearby riverbank and woodland areas to help improve the local environment.

In total, 40 colleagues from across the site volunteered their time, with departments including production, operations, customer service, HR, technical and health and safety getting involved.

Using equipment generously donated by Burnley Borough Council, 40 bags of rubbish were collected, helping to reduce litter and protect local wildlife and natural habitats. Items collected included a door, computer, shoes, car parts, toys and litter.

Earth Day, celebrated annually on 22nd April, mobilises more than one billion people worldwide and aims to raise awareness of environmental issues while encouraging action to support a more sustainable future.

Activities like this allow us to bring our No Waste vision and values beyond our sites and support the communities in which we operate.

Commenting on the initiative, Megan Doyle, Senior HR Operations Partner at Coveris Burnley, said: “We had a fantastic response from colleagues across the Burnley site for Earth Day, and I’m really proud of everyone who got involved. It was great to see so many people giving their time to make a difference to the local area and support our No Waste sustainability vision. Activities like this really show what we’re about as a team, looking after our environment and supporting the community around us.”

Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make Earth Day 2026 a success at Coveris Burnley.
