Earlier this year, Coveris announced plans to grow its medical segment with significant investments towards industry 4.0 standards. As part of this, Coveris has launched a comprehensive modernisation and expansion programme at both its German medical sites Halle and Rohrdorf.

While the location in Halle is already in the midst of being modernised with the finalisation planned in the first quarter 2021, the plant in Rohrdorf did not allow the expansions needed to offer customers the intended quality benchmarks. Coveris now proudly announces the relocation of its medical business in Rohrdorf to a new site nearby that meets or exceeds all industry requirements.

The new, modern and energy-optimised building offers a state-of-the-art environment for reliable production with the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene as it will be equipped with an ISO Class 7 clean room. The thorough transition plan allows all necessary validations in a timely manner and the proximity of just 1.5km from the existing plant allows a smooth transfer of machinery and staff without any disruption in services to its customers.

“Medical packaging is one of our core businesses and I am delighted about this breakthrough initiative. Our customers will benefit even more from our inhouse offering, combining film extrusion, printing and pouch production– all at the highest and leading-edge cleanliness standards.”, comments Jakob A. Mosser, CEO of Coveris.

The new facility will come into operation in May 2021.
