Luxury packaging meets environmental benefit for Farne of Scotland’s new branded range of products for UK retail. Part of the international gourmet Labeyrie Fine Foods Group, Farne of Scotland has a long history of supplying private-label fish products to leading retailers. In September 2020, Farne of Scotland ventured into luxury branded salmon and trout with the launch of Farne of Scotland Strong & Robust Smoked Salmon in Tesco.
Supporting the brand’s sustainable sourcing and environmental philosophy from product to packaging, Farne of Scotland partnered with Coveris to develop a winning pack that delivers premium shelf appeal by responsible design. Luxurious and recyclable, the envelope style cartonboard pack achieves an eye-catching and impactful shelf presentation. Using an innovative new FSC sustainably sourced and recyclable metallised board, Coveris utilises specialist printing techniques to produce a combination of matte, gloss and embossed finishes for both a premium look and feel.
Following the successful launch in September, Farne of Scotland Strong & Robust Smoked Salmon was recognised in the Quality Food Awards 2020, winning top prize in the best Smoked Fish category. Farne of Scotland is now set to expand its range with further products in the pipeline and confirmed launches in the UK retail market in 2021.
Sam Johnson, New Business Development Manager for Coveris’ Labels & Board Business Unit commented: “It was an exciting project to work with Farne of Scotland for their first branded line for retail and develop packaging that reflects their quality and environmental ethos. Supporting our No Waste vision, Coveris continues to innovate our products and explore new materials that deliver instore and on shelf impact, in a sustainable way. With this packaging we have achieved luxury visual and tactile appeal using responsibly sourced and recyclable materials, aligned with the sustainability values of both Coveris and Farne of Scotland.”
Coveris recently revealed its No Waste sustainability strategy with a vision for no product, packaging or operational waste.
