Nine kind-hearted staff from Coveris in Winsford have been helping to put the finishing touches to a major refurbishment project at the Mid Cheshire branch of Samaritans in Northwich.

Following routine rendering work at the centre, builders discovered it was in a bad state of repair. To help cover the approximate £37,000 repair bill staff and volunteers launched a fundraising campaign.

The team at Coveris in Winsford were keen to get involved and applied for a grant from the Coveris Community Fund (CCF) to donate to the charity to help with the repairs. As well as handing over a cheque for £4,000 (one of the CCF’s biggest grants to date), with support from Coveris Winsford’s leadership team, a group of volunteers from the site recently went back to the centre during work hours to help decorate and hired a skip to clear out any rubbish left behind.

Mike Richardson, Technical Director at Coveris Winsford, said it’s great to see the work finally completed.

“The building was such a sad sight at the start of the year and now its looks great,” said Mike.

“We really enjoyed coming in and helping Annie and the team finish off project. We are extremely proud to be able to support Samaritans in this small way; they do such great work helping the community and it seemed like an ideal cause to support.

“We hope this will become a long-term relationship and we will continue to help them whenever we can.”

Annie Mills, Mid Cheshire (Northwich) Samaritans Branch Director, added: “I was so happy that the team, who had started the fundraising campaign with their donation, were there at the end of the project to help put the final touches to our building.

“They were brilliant - full of great spirit with smiling determination to achieve whatever was necessary. They did more than we had even thought about and nothing was too much trouble. We are so grateful to Mike and the team, we all had fun, and the result is amazing!

“Working with such a positive, dynamic and entrepreneurial company whose values really align with ours has such a positive effect on us all, and of course helps us continue and expand our work here in the community.”

Coveris would like to say a big thank to our amazing colleagues who were involved in this very worthwhile project!
