Leading European packaging manufacturer Coveris has once again been recognised for print excellence at the European Flexographic Industry Association (EFIA) Awards. Gold award winners in three categories, Coveris also took home Silver in the prestigious ‘Best in Show’ competition.

The EFIA Print Awards took place at the end of March at the impressive Concorde Conference Centre in Manchester. Celebrating industry wide excellence in flexographic print, the EFIA Awards are an opportunity to showcase print quality, efficiency, innovation, technical development and sustainability.

Building on the success of last year’s EFIA Awards where Coveris took home one Gold award, Coveris has been triumphant in three categories this year, taking Gold award honours in ‘Flexo Print on Film – Reverse Print Narrow’, ‘Flexo Print on Paper – Narrow Web’ and ‘Student of the Year’. Coveris was also awarded Silver in the ‘Best in Show’ competition, selected from print category winners.

Coveris’ winning entry in the ‘Flexo Print on Film – Reverse Print Narrow’ category is a collation shrink multipack film for beverage brand Tropico. Printed at Coveris’ site in Louth (UK), the dynamic and vibrant Tropico design has been produced using process colours and demonstrates Coveris’ print consistency and quality on a challenging substrate.

Showcasing investment in Esko screening technologies in combination with LED exposure frames and MacDermid flat top dot plates enabling high resolution printing, Coveris’ winning entry in the ‘Flexo Print on Paper – Narrow Web’ category is a linerless label for an Asda Tikka Chicken Stir Fry Kit. The label, printed at Coveris’ dedicated linerless label site in Spalding (UK), also took the Silver award in the Best in Class competition.

EFIA’s ‘Student of the Year’ accolade was awarded to Kerry Gilligan, Customer Service Executive at Coveris in Spalding. Kerry has been recognised with a diploma by the European Flexographic Academy following a year-long course in the nationally accredited EFIA Academy.

Jakob Mosser, CEO at Coveris said: “It is an outstanding achievement for Coveris to receive Gold print awards in both film and paper categories in addition to Silver in the prestigious ‘Best in Class’ competition at the EFIA Awards 2019. These awards demonstrate our great collaboration with suppliers, continuous investment in new technologies and commitment to harness innovation in the flexographic industry. We’re also very proud to celebrate the achievements of our colleague Kerry Gilligan, winner of ‘Student of the Year’, highlighting her hard work and dedication and our continued commitment to invest in and empower our people.”
