Do you have a passion for the English language? Want to be able to showcase your written creative flair? This is the role for you! An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Leeds site for a Lead Copywriter to join the team.

 

Key areas of responsibility

  • Creative copywriting for our client’s products and packaging
  • Maintaining a current awareness for food, consumer and brand trends whilst meeting the clients corporate brand guidelines
  • Working closely with key stakeholders to ensure the brand approach to copy stays relevant, legal and in keeping with the brand guidelines
  • Creating and maintaining brand tone of voice documents that are used throughout the various sub-brands within the business
  • Being the go-to contact for all things copy related to the brand and engaging with the key stakeholders before making final decisions that are rolled out throughout the business
  • Working with suppliers and design agencies on a project-by-project basis
  • Preparing, chairing and attending key design meetings, driving the copy team forward and ensuring that the right amount of copy appears on each and every pack
  • Establish key working relationships with the client and colleagues
  • Understanding of client’s processes and how copywriting tasks relate to other stakeholders
  • Manage training and development plans, succession planning including PDPs
  • Evaluate ongoing performance of team members through 1‐2‐1s, PDPs and Appraisals
  • Using creative workshops to ensure team members remain engaged and are free to develop their creative writing abilities – both for the client and beyond the core elements of the business Making effective use of IT and master the company’s systems to gather and distribute information to all key stakeholders, ensuring data integrity at all times
  • Identify and recommend new ways of working which benefit the business and department
  • Demonstrate an active engagement with constantly looking for ways to improve the process to drive commercial benefit

 

Key requirements

  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal) internally and client facing
  • Confidence in being involved in strategy-level decision-making
  • Proactive, positive, enthusiastic; demonstrates ‘can do’ attitude
  • Organised and calm under pressure – used to working to tight deadlines
  • Friendly, approachable and flexible – a team player
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Computer literacy – MS Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Passionate about creative writing
  • At least three year’s relevant copywriting or communications writing experience
